Easy Crockpot Apple Butter (No Refined Sugar)

Easy Apple Butter in the Crockpot with No Refined Sugar

Is Fall officially here yet or WHAT? Maybe not, but I don't care because I've decided it's apple butter time!

Growing up, apple butter was our mom's very favorite topping for all forms of bread (and I do mean ALL). Now it's my turn to keep the family stocked with tangy, Autumn-spiced apple butter. I whip it up in the slow cooker so I can go about my day without thinking about it. And by the time evening rolls around, the entire house is infused with the smell of apples and spice. YUM!

Easy Crockpot Apple Butter (No Refined Sugar)

You won't find any refined sugar in this apple butter recipe — only raw honey. I recommend adding it after the apples have cooled to allow it to retain the health benefits. Also use local honey whenever you can so the wildflowers and plants native to your area will be incorporated in both the flavor and its health advantages (especially for seasonal allergies).

Did I tell you we have our very own honey bees? It's been a learning curve to be sure, but what a joy it is to watch them working day in and day out so we can enjoy their delicious bounty! We just extracted honey for the year so it's perfect timing. A honey pot with dipper is a great way to have it available without the mess.

By the way, this recipe tastes best when you choose two different kinds of apples so that they mingle, producing a complex and wonderful flavor.
